Weather Envy

1 Jun

Despite the rain, my last two runs have been great. I ran about 10 miles or so today in the rain and I didn’t mind that much. Yesterday I ran in the rain and I felt really good.

But really now? I am sick of the rain. It’s June, Portland!
All of you that have nice weather, send it my way. Please and thank you.

Tuesday’s workout: Over an hour run and about 15 minutes on the elliptical

I began my run at 8 AM and got to school a little bit after 9:30 because I had to take my math exam at 10:30. I bet everyone enjoyed my soaking, sweaty self.

The exam went fairly well I think. It took me an hour and a half compared to last time when it took me two hours (and I didn’t even finish). I have a B in the class so I don’t care that much.

“I like to crack the jokes now and again, but it’s only because I struggle with math.” – Tina Fey

Afterwards I was starving so I decided to hit up the food carts! If you don’t know, Portland has a lot of food carts. I’m sure we are known for our food carts. Watch the  Cooking Channel sometime. Eat St. has an episode or two on food carts. Have you ever been to one?

I ended up going to this German food cart. I totally forget the name, but it has been featured in GQ Magazine and is voted the 6th best food cart in the U.S.

I got the eggplant sandwich that had romaine lettuce, red pepper spread, and parsley on ciabatta bread. The thing was bigger than my head.

Update on weight: I weighed myself on Tuesday. I’m not at square one anymore. It’s more like I am at square one plus another square. That doesn’t make any sense, but I don’t feel like saying my weight because people get all doctor-y and tell me facts.

I do not believe in BMI facts, etc. If I feel healthy, maybe I am at the ‘right’ weight. I don’t think I am just yet though. I do feel hell of a lot better, nonetheless. I am eating more. Perhaps not enough, but I feel better even though the scale isn’t going up. I just want to let everyone know that I eat! I just do not eat enough. I do not starve myself either.

Currently, I want to let go of some of my fear foods. I have let go of many in the past several months, but I still have some like: coffee, French toast, waffles, pancakes, protein bars that have more than xxx calories, and some other foods. Why can’t I drink iced coffee when I am craving it? I just don’t want to drink my calories. I don’t know why.

Wednesday’s workout: 45 minutes of weight and over an hour run that equaled about 10+ miles.

I feel so good about lifting once again. I have gotten a bit stronger. I can squat about 45 pounds and I have increased on most of my weights. I know, 45 pounds is like nothing compared to a lot of you, but my legs feel it. I love it.

By the way, if anyone knows of any websites or blogs that offer some great weight lifting workouts, hit me up!

I was starving after my workout so I was going to hit up the food carts, but I saw the Portland food market was open.

I bought a vegetarian tamale. Best thing ever! I don’t even know what a tamale is, but I want more more more more.

I hope everyone is enjoying their week so far! I have graduation rehearsal tomorrow plus a track workout. Saturday is my graduation. Huzzah! I am somewhat dreading it because I’m nervous about not being able to run. I’ll wake up at five if I have to. I don’t care. Call me crazy.

Has anyone seen the Twitter picture LeAnn Rimes posted?

Do you think she is too skinny? Everyone seems to think so. Honestly, I don’t think she is overly thin. I think she looks damn good… just really thin. She could be healthy for all we know.

Honestly, I think she looks a little on the “too skinny” side, but I don’t know what she previously looked like..I hope she’s fueling her body and treating it right!!
Sorry you aren’t up in the weight category very much 😦 Keep on pushing–which I know you are!!

We have HOT (yet sunny) weather here, I’ll send some your way 😉

    I think she’s too skinny!

The weather here has been like 100 degrees everyday. I want to cry.

I think she could put on some weight. When you start to see bones jutting out that shouldn’t be so prominent than that person’s too skinny plus guys like girls with some curves

That’s awesome that you’re able to grab some famous grub just whenever. I wanna go to Portland so bad. My parents have been there and they’re determined to move there after all their kids graduate. 😛

Ah, she needs a little more meat on her bones!

Bodybuilding.com has some pretty good workouts.
I reckon people probably think Leanne Rimes looks too skinny cos she looks waay different than what she used to look like- I couldn’t actually tell that was her in the pic!
All your food(as usual) looks DELISH
    Xxx

That picture of LeAnn Rimes made me sad D8<
and also reminded me why I stay away from the media. I looked on the Huffington post and lots of people were either defending her or saying how unhealthy she was. Anyone that said she was unhealthy they seemed to call fat. I feel logically I should know what is and isn't, but when you get all of these distorted views it's confusing. With that said- I think she's way to skinny, but then I start doubting myself and thinking maybe I just don't know what skinny (or fat) is. Ah, our society…why are we rampant with disordered eating?..Oh yeah.

I have to admit, I think LeAnn looks awful. I think that toned people look way better than skinny people, and she just looks skinny.
Your weather is better for running than ours! It was 106 degrees out at the time that I would have been doing my workout, and even my coach bailed on it. He said no amount of dedication could keep him out there. 10 mile runs would be IMPOSSIBLE in this weather! Luckily we’ve got weathr in the 70’s for tomorrow.

Eh I think she is too skinny. Major hip bones sticking out there.

My weather right now is pretty dang perfect but It’s getting hotter and hotter every day, soon it will be WAY to hot.

Yay for weights and graduating! I would seriously LOVE to go to those food carts. Take me with you so I can feast on yummy food!

  11. ihearteggs June 2, 2011 at 8:04 AM #

    Happy GRADUATION!!!! (early! lol)

I think she looks unhealthy skinny… not “too skinny” but too skinny becuase she doesnt eat enough, not becuase she’s an athelte or runner or something.

  12. teabagginit June 2, 2011 at 9:43 AM #

yeah, i have to agree with everyone else here. she looks too skinny / unhealthy. i see those bones and it makes me sad because it reminds me of the time i wasted trying to maintain those visible ribs. i am so much happier/healthier/everything now that i can focus on other things in life!
ps – one of those things is how awesome portland is for all those great food carts! you’re lucky!
    enjoy your graduation!

I know you can’t judge someone’s health just by a picture, because it doesn’t tell the full story and some people are naturally really skinny, but she didn’t used to look like that, and if she wanted to lose weight, she went too far.

that sandwich from the german place makes me DROOL!

  14. Michelle June 3, 2011 at 2:26 PM #

I first heard about the food carts through Mama Pea’s blog! I want to check them out so badly–they sound awesome!

  15. trailroadcrosscountrytrackrunner June 3, 2011 at 4:06 PM #

Don’t worry about the whole bmi thing. As long as you’re eating enough to completely satisfy your hunger and you’re not losing weight, feeling cold, or feeling lethargic and everything is healthy, then you’re at a good weight. I’m still trying to learn this too. I’ve had my fair share of ups and downs with my weight.

Many people are saying that Leann Rimes is too skinny, but what makes me sad is that I am envious and wish I could look like that. I know that sounds awful, but it’s true…

Oh, and sorry…I’m a complete stranger to your blog…I’ve been reading your blog for a while but I just recently started blogging.

  16. Alexandra June 3, 2011 at 5:24 PM #

I’m so so glad you commented on my blog so I could check yours out! I’m loving it, we have A LOT in common sister. Those food carts are wicked cool and I’m diggin the vegetarian tamale, yummmmyyy!! 😛
Hope you have a great weekend!

I actually really like running in the rain, but I know what you mean — it can get to be a real bore after a while.

It’s great to read that you are letting go of some of your fear foods too. That’s a long, slow process, so I think it’s normal to hold on to some for a while. I must admit though that I agree with a lot of the other commenters about LeAnn Rimes. You’re right that we can’t know the full story about someone’s health just by looking at them, but with such low body fat and not much muscle mass to speak of, I suspect her food intake it rather low, and hence her stores of essential vits and minerals etc.

Congrats and being done with the exam!

  18. StuckOutsideTheBox June 8, 2011 at 9:49 PM #

Ooh I love tamales so so so such! Haven’t had one in a while though. I think Leann Rimes would look better with a bit more weight. Who knows if she’s healthy or not but I don’t think she looks as good all skinny. I think a lot of women look SO much better with more weight (but still being toned).

  19. Simone March 9, 2012 at 10:25 AM #

Yup, look who just showed up to the party!! Just a wee bit late… 🙂
Just found your blog so I’m catching up on your delectable posts! Fact: I love your blog!
I too think Leann Rimes looks GOOD. Call me crazy but I loooove her body and the way she sticks up for it. I’m naturally skinny though and I have a few bones that stick out and they do so even when I fluctuate weight. I also just started running regularly and your blog has been such an inspiration.
Thanks for your wonderful wit, intrinsic determination and your amazing blog! Much appreciated!
