Attention: Shower Needed

16 Jul

Hey, hey!

Today has been a long day.

I woke up at 5:30 AM to this…

 Hey rain, go away now.
“There is no such thing as bad weather, just soft people.” – Bill Bowerman

Why did I wake up at 5:30 AM on a Saturday when normal people my age are sleeping in until noon? I need to get a run in. Well, if we are going to be technical, I didn’t run exactly at 5:30. I ate breakfast first then left the house by 6:30 to run downtown.

Just winkin’ at you and rocking out to Katy Perry

I wanted to make it the run a part tempo run, but clearly, it was just like… I don’t know.

I need to get quicker. I know I can do better. It’s making me cray cray! I gained weight. I don’t know how because I am eating the same, perhaps more. I should be okay with this. Remember when I said I wanted to gain weight? Remember when I said I wanted to be over 105? Apparently, my mind doesn’t like it because when I step on the damn scale, I say, “What the hell?” It could be muscle. I was super sore from a strength class I attended. It could be fat. I have been eating more because recently I have not been satisfied with my meals. I feel fat. I feel like my thighs are balloons.

I don’t know. I don’t want to talk about it anymore until I get my Racing Weight book in the mail. What I want to be possible is for me to see a sports nutritionist or someone to tell me, “Hey, you should be this weight XXX so you can be runner all your life and still be fast.”

I just don’t want to talk about it again and again on this blog because it’s repetitive. I’d rather post pictures of celebrities.

What was I talking about again?

Oh, how today was a long day. Well, today was my college orientation. It started at 10. It was so pointless. They just babble at you about knowing your resources and how to find something you love. Isn’t that just life in general?

All that was on my mind was the fact that I didn’t shower after my run.

Seriously. I washed my face and sprayed on some perfume, but that was it. So gross. Don’t remind me. I felt nasty. I got home at 4:30 and showered immediately.

Anyway, part of this college orientation was to register for your classes. I want to major in community health with an emphasis in activity/exercise. When it came time to meet with the college advisors, mine didn’t show up! I had to go to the undecided room and pick classes.

I picked three since I am doing cross-country, which is from 2-5 PM. Then, I had to go register the classes into the computer and two of them were full. Not fair at all. How do I even start getting credits toward my degree if it is full? I’m going to have to call the community health advisor anyway since her lazy ass wasn’t there.

It seems like the first year of college is just going to be getting classes out of the way before I can begin taking classes that I will enjoy. Fun? No. Just get me in and out. Wait, no. Just let me run.

Folks already in college: when do you start taking classes that actually matter for your major? I have to take a freshmen inquiry class for ‘fun’. It’s required. I decided to take race and social justice (or something like that) because I bet I get to debate in the class about some silly issue.

I am almost finished with the book The New Rules of Lifting for Women. I definitely already have a pros and cons list started about the book so expect that some time tomorrow. Maybe. I began reading Kara Goucher’s book so now I’m in the running mood 24/7.

I do have work tomorrow, but not until 2 so let’s hope I squeeze in a post. Also, don’t even mention Harry Potter to me. I have ZERO time to see it unless I want to be up all night. As much as I love Harry Potter, my grandmother ways do not allow me to stay up past 10.

I want you guys to hold me responsible for posting something tomorrow.

By the way, if there are any suggestions on how I can make my blog more enjoyable, let me know. However, let me just get on to my honorable eats:

I actually ordered racing weight too just because you told me too. HA. Anywho-I didn’t start registering for major classes until sophomore year and believe me classes always open up. One semester 1/5 classes I needed was open and the week before classes legit started I got into the other 4. True life.

Throw away or ask someone to hide the scale from you, for reals I rarely think about it now that’s its gone. Out of sight – out of mind? And maybe you should see a sports nutritionist! I could help!

Good luck of your college shenanegins. Hopefully nobody could smell you lol 😛

Hahah. I smelled myself when I got home and I was like, “Oh my god. I smell awful.”

I have to add that book racing weights to my already long book list!
Wishing you all the best for college 🙂

i’m sorry that gaining weight has been so frustrating for you. I flipped through racing weight and didn’t really like it.. probably because of the emphasis on losing weight and I really can’t do that. hopefully someone will review it so i can get a better feel for it. Definitely share your thoughts on Kara Goucher’s book because I started flipping through that and liked it!
Umm you should do a vlog. I love vlogs. I keep planning on doing one but I always forget!

I’d much rather wake up at 5:30 than 12:00…I feel like my day would just be wasted! I remember last year one time I ran at like 5:45 in the morning…it was so cool! I want to do it again this year.

I’m sorry that gaining weight has been bothering you- I completely understand what is going on. I had to go through the same thing. And don’t worry, you’re not being repetitive! I wouldn’t let that run bother you- some days our bodies just can’t hit a certain pace, if you know what I mean. Plus, that half marathon wasn’t too long ago, and there’s no way that you could be a different runner than you were at that time! 🙂 stay strong!

And I agree with Tara, you should definitely do a vlog! I do think that your blog is amazing, already, though.

Did you happen to be jammin to ‘Last Friday Night’? If so, I was right there with ya yesterday in my truck! I can’t get enough of that song!! 😀
I’ve been dealing with the same gaining weight issues, but I just try to hold my head high like you and realize it’s helping me towards my goals, not hurting me. If you ever wanna talk, feel free to shoot me an email
Freshman year was pretty boring class wise, but it did help build the foundations for the courses I’m taking now as a sophomore that’re more geared toward my major 🙂 If you can stand sitting through all the boring core crap, you can conquer the world! WOO haha 😉

Maybe thinking you are too heavy to run really fast is what is messing you up-it could be mental, you know? If someone is too thin they don’t have a ton of energy to give their all each run. But if you have fuel and weight enough you will have power to go fast! That is just my take on the issue 🙂

Ah college. That is VERY strange that you couldn’t get in the classes for your major on the day of orientation. You shouldn’t start taking your “main” classes until your 2nd year or after, I think.

Gaining much needed weight will only make you stronger, faster, and more able to achieve your goals. For real. I never thought it would be possible, but I’m a lot happier with my body now than I was when I was lighter. Being underweight sucks… it’s just so much harder to be happy in a body that’s constantly starved. Don’t be afraid of health, girl… it only brings good things.

dude im so with you on the gaining weight….i know its necessary but i feel ya on the like WTF i am so largeeeee
honestly i threw away the scale a while ago and it has made my life so much easier. now i just really pay attention to how i look and how my clothes fit. Honestly it may be muscle. I have been taking protein powder and i know that has helped me gain weight but i realize how much stronger my arms and legs are. and in the end i know i need to gain weight and i rather be gaining my weight as muscle…and this protein powder is def helping

and as far as classes go it all depends on your school..but honestly i didnt really start taking the classes for what i am really interested in until like this term..basically my junior year.
you gotta get through all the preliminary junk and then you will be able to do what you want
its so annoying but ughhhh thats life rightttt?

Throw out or hide your scale! Seriously that was one of the best choices I’ve everrr made. Now I just go by how I feel and the way my clothes fit. It is such a hughe wieght (no pun intended!) off my shoulders to not constantly obsess over and think about that number. Seeing it every morning used to define my entire day. What I wold eat, How much I’d workout, How I would feel about myslef, Even what I would wear cause I would feel the need to cover up my “fat” if it was too high.
Don’t be afraid to gain weight. In the long run your body will thank you for it.

I feel so lame compared to you. You think a 7 minute mile is “slow” and I only run at 8:30 or 9:00 sometimes. 😦

I just started taking classes for my major this past semester and I’ve been in college since the fall of 2008. Prior to that it was a bunch of stuff for my associates degree. I luckily haven’t run into problems with classes being full (knock on wood I didn’t just jinx myself) so i have no tips for you there.

Enjoy college and get yourself into a good habit for studying, doing homework, and other class related stuff. It’s so hard to break the bad habits! Trust me, I know…failed a class as a result of my bad habits I couldn’t break from high school. 😦
