I know my numbers

19 Jul

10 times I have sung Hair by Lady Gaga today.

9 miles I ran yesterday. Most of it was uphill too.

The only unfortunate thing about running hills is the down hills. I’m being serious. I hate running downhill and even more so because I ran too many down hills yesterday and now my knee today is in pain. Actually, it’s tender and perhaps a bit painful, but that’s it. Nothing I can’t run through a bit. Looks like tomorrow I will do some lifting and strengthen up my legs to counteract my knee.  I hear this is just runner’s knee anyway. It happens when you run downhill. Does anyone else experience knee pain running down hill?

8 hours I worked yesterday plus an extra thirty minutes.

Guess what happened at work yesterday besides little kids sticking their fingers on windows I just cleaned? The show Portlandia filmed at my store!

Fred Armisen was there and so was Jack McBrayer. I arrived at work when they were finishing so I didn’t see any of the stars, but still. It’s like we were in the same place and everything so… wooo.

7 miles I ran today due to my knee.

I stopped five minutes earlier than I wanted since my knee was super tender. Thanks (down) hills! I felt so slow. Booo.

I ran in my new shoes though! Check dem out, suckas.

6 minutes of foam rolling I did immediately after running today. It felt nice for once. Usually I foam roll and it hurts so good that I get sweaty. I’m a dude.

5 pages I have read in the book Racing Weight.

I received it in the mall yesterday and I think I am going to love it. It’s about finding your perfect weight for racing and reaching your full potential. I suppose it involves some weight loss information, but that’s only for athletes who need to find their race weight.

4 times I have weighed myself this week. I know, guys. I’m cray cray. I am weighing myself to see if the pounds I gained will affect my running. It’s not due to eating disorder thoughts.  Besides, I want to back away from eating at a certain time even when I’m not hungry. I always have a snack around three even if I don’t feel hungry so now I just want to eat a snack when I feel like I need it.

2 days in a row I have had a tuna Panini for dinner from my work.

Also, two days in a row I have had my lunch out of a peanut butter jar.

1 full chin up I did followed my several half chin ups. Don’t laugh. I probably could have done more full ones, but I got lazy. My goal is to do them everyday thanks to my brother’s magazine Men’s Fitness. That magazine owns.

0 hours of work I have today and tomorrow. That time will be spent blogging shopping, reading, and seeing Harry Potter.

It just occurred to me that I have not done a week in review. Well, let’s get this sucka out.

July 10th-17th workouts:

Monday: 4.25 miles (recovery run/blisters on my feet) + RIPPED class + elliptical
Tuesday: 8.50 miles – average pace 7:05
Wednesday: 8.90 miles – average pace 6:49
Thursday: Elliptical + strength & conditioning class
Friday: 8.66 miles – average pace 7:01
Saturday: 12.47 miles – average pace 6:56
Sunday: Weights + spin class

Total mileage: 42.78 miles

I backed off and did more cross training this week since last week my total mileage was close to 60. This week I hope to ramp it back up again.

It is time to put some pants on and get this day started.

Honorable eats:

 German chocolate cake
Mushroom tart
Broccoli quiche
New crop of apple I found. So good.

Questions:
How is your week going so far?
How many of you have seen Harry Potter?

“Learn to run when feeling the pain: then push harder.”

loathe running downhill! I hear ya! don’t know whether or not i’m supposed to fly down hills or take it slow…one feels like i’m going to fall flat on my face because i’m such a klutz and the latter hurts my ankles too much! i try to skip it altogether!

you = stud. 9 miles uphill sounds bru. tal.

SAW HP AT MIDNIGHT AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH SO GOOD YOU WILL LOVE IT!

What a fun post, youre so creative with the number scheme. That is ratherrr impressive about the 9 miles, mostly up hill! I’m such a baby, I always cringe at even the slightest incline, especially when tired of course…but have to power through them
I will certainly not laugh at your chin up. You want to know how many I can do!? ZERO 🙂 Perhaps even a negative amount? I think that might be possible
As long as you are aware of why you are weighing yourself and are being truthful with yourself, than I would say it’s okay to do so. However, if there are underlying eating disorder thoughts, than STOP right now please.
Haven’t seen HP yet… not really sure if I will in the theaters! This sounds pretty obnoxious, but I think I love the books way too much to enjoy the movies

I’m excited to see what you think of racing weight! I barely looked through it but I think it would be cool to see what kind of information is in it. I also admire you for running with your screwy knee. I’m one of those people that starts freaking out at the first inkling of pain.

    Harry Potter = love.

Hills will definitely do a number on your knees. I personally love running downhill, especially after running up a big hill, but I can definitely feel it the next day. 48 miles is a lot of running. Make sure you’re not overtraining. It’s something I’m guilty of sometimes, and I can definitely feel it in my legs when I do.

    Your eats look delicious!!!!

I can’t wait to hear more about running weight. I’m tempted to buy it, but I’m worried it focuses too much on losing weight…something I don’t need to do.

Keep running and eating delicious eats!

I love this post chica, so fun! 😀 I’m stoked to hear about the new book and I’m drooling like mad for those peanut butter jar concoctions
I saw HP today and it WAS THE BOMB! Best possible way to end the series, you will not be let down my friend!! 😀

The new HP is absolutley EPIC!! Ever since seeing it, I am in love with Neville Longbottom!
And I totally get that same issue with my knees when I run downhill 😦 it suckss.
Love your week-in-review post by the way, I think I just might have to start doing these.

I HATE running downhill. It hurts so much more than uphill. People don’t understand when I tell them that, but it’s true. Ugh.
Oh, and I can’t even do one chin-up so kudos to you.

I want to see the new HP. UGH my Racing weight book still hasn’t come. Rude. No seriously. Rude. I am also obsessed with hair. Are we living the same live…probably.

I am going to see Harry Potter this weekend!!

I hate downhills too…well at least I do right now! They jar my legs and make my shins hurt. This sounds weird, but in XC races I would rather have more uphills (like our home course) because I am good at powering up the uphills, but I always lose ground on the downhills.

Hope your knee feels better! 🙂

  12. Jess July 19, 2011 at 7:36 PM #

I saw Harry Potter–loved it!! I think I prefer running uphill, verse downhill-even though I don’t run 😉 I hope your knee feels better ASAP!!

  13. katshealthcorner July 19, 2011 at 8:46 PM #

I haven’t seen Harry Potter yet!!!!!

  14. Jessica July 20, 2011 at 4:59 AM #

I have horrible runner’s knees too!! Uuum… okay, admittedly, you’ll feel like a complete idiot, but running backwards down hills seriously takes ALL the pressure off your knees (clearly, cross the street so you can see incoming traffic, hahaha) and its good for your glutes too! : )

  15. Amanda @ Running with Spoons July 20, 2011 at 6:23 AM #

9 miles uphill? Wowie girl, that’s pretty amazing. I’m def. with you on the downhill part, though… not a big fan. But tehn again, I’m not a big fan of running uphill either lol. Just gimme flat surfaces 😉

My week’s been going well… kinda crazy busy, but it makes time fly so that’s alright. And I haven’t seen HP yet, but everyone’s raving about it so it must be good.

Since I’m at work posting this I’ll tell you my week is going 😦 My department has 5 hours of overtime per week authorized and I’m discovering that all that means for me (besides extra $$) is more time to be upset with people who didn’t do their job correctly the first time.

Number of times I’ve seen Harry Potter: 0 I haven’t even seen all of the previous movies yet!

Envy apples are so yummy. And they have a cute sticker. Which is weird, but I dig it.
